In this
tutorial you will learn how to create things out of bubbles.
For the background I used these two colors: A239f3 and 0ef8f5. I used a blank canvas, 8.5x11 inches. I turned on the shape dynamics, scattering, color dynamics, smoothing and wet edges to create the background, but you can put it in whatever background you’d like.
Color Dynamics settings: Foreground/background jitter-48% Hue jitter-12%
Saturation jitter-14%
Scattering
settings: Both axes. Scatter 1000% Count 1. Count jitter 55%
Shape
dynamics: everything is 0. I just chose a round brush with about 70% hardness.
You can play with the brush size to give you different looks.
Then find a
picture of a bubble and cut it out however you prefer. I used the round marquee
tool then pressed command j and dragged it to my other image.
Now find a
cartoon/diagram of something you want to create with bubbles.
Make
multiple copies of the bubble you brought over so you can use it for each new
layer. Go ahead and just put them in a group for now.
Resize the
bubble until it fits the body.
Turn off
the body layer and use one of the original bubble copies. Squish and stretch it
until it fits the neck (command t for free transform). I changed its opacity
(can press v 5) to 50% so I could see it better. Then click the little mesh
thing at the top to warp it.
Experiment
with it until you get it to fit right. Don’t worry about keeping it in the
lines too much.
Turn the
body back on. I didn’t like how mine matched up so I did free transform. Warp
again to make the edges line up nicer. Make sure the opacity is back at 100%.
Get your
next bubble and repeat the process with the head. If you run out of original bubble
copies just make a few more.
I just
duplicated the left foot and moved it over.
The ears
are a bit trickier given their shape. I only did the left one then I copied the
layer (command j).
I moved it
over and right clicked to flip it horizontally.
And that’s
all there is to it! You can do stuff to the background after or not.
